TEMPORARY BOOKKEEPER AD10 (6 MONTH NON-RENEWABLE CONTRACT – MATERNITY REPLACEMENT)
The School of Construction Economics and Management seeks to appoint a Temporary Bookkeeper with effect from March 2022. The School is locally and internationally accredited and has a growing undergraduate and postgraduate enrolment in these fields as well as a growing research profile, and short course offerings through Wits Plus and Wits Enterprise. |
Key Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will be accountable for a number of financial transactions, reports, and relevant administrative tasks according to University policies viz: requisition to purchase (services, goods, traveling, etc.); obtain first quotations when required; reimbursements; request daily payments (bursaries, conferences, per diems, advances, etc.).
- Maintenance and management of projects in Oracle & ensuring that projects remain within budget viz: obtain contracts/agreements from the academics; obtain cost and revenue budgets from budget holders and update project budgets accordingly; create new projects according to agreement and budget; ensure that all project budgets are correctly captured within Oracle; manage all budgets and follow up with budget holders when projects are overspent.
- Monitor and manage outstanding advances.
- Reconciling accounts to ensure that all transactions are correctly allocated and paid.
- Monthly reporting to the HOS, School Exec and grant holders on all projects and University funded accounts by using the predefined reports in WebI InfoView (BI/BO).
- Resolve queries from academics, grant holders, suppliers and customers.
- Booking conferences and air tickets.
Essential Requirements:
- Matric essential; Bookkeeping/Financial Accounting Qualification essential; working experience of Oracle financial modules; solid excel skills is essential, 3-5 years relevant experience is essential.
- Knowledge of the University and the University’s financial Policies and Procedures is a strong advantage.
