The Opportunity
The Registered Nurse (ICU) provides safe, high-quality, and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and specialised clinical interventions. The role focuses on the assessment, management, and ongoing monitoring of critically ill patients, including those requiring mechanical ventilation and other life-support interventions. The Registered Nurse works closely with the multidisciplinary team to promote patient recovery, ensure continuity of care, and uphold professional and ethical standards in line with hospital policies and nursing regulations.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Post-basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing advantageous.
- Current SANC annual licence to practice.
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in an Intensive Care Unit.
- Sound knowledge of critical care principles, mechanical ventilation, haemodynamic monitoring, medication administration, and infection prevention and control.
- Experience in managing patients requiring complex clinical care and life-support interventions.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with hospital information systems.
