The Department of Health is seeking dedicated and experienced Professional Nurses with a specialty in Midwifery to join the team at Far East Rand Hospital.

Requirements:

  • Basic nursing diploma/degree as a professional nurse registered with South African Nursing Council.
  • Post basic nursing qualification with the duration of at least 1 year accredited with SANC i.e. postgraduate in midwifery.
  • Knowledge of all legislation relevant to health care service.
  • Minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional nurse with SANC in general nursing.
  • Must be prepared to work shifts, night duty and public holidays.
  • Must be prepared to rotate according to SOP.
  • Current SANC registration.

Duties:

  • Work under the direct supervision of the operational manager in his/her area of all allocation.
  • Provision of nursing care according to the scope of practise of nurses for his/her category.
  • Adherence to the principles of nursing practice, all quality assurance standards, and set rules and standards of nursing in his/her area.
  • Promotion of professionalism and leading by example at all times.
  • Co-ordination of activities of other health team members.
  • Act as a shift leader of the nursing team and relieve the operational manager.
  • Ensure that all quality assurance standards and other mandates are implemented during his/her shift.
