Requirements

To be considered for this crucial position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a basic nursing diploma/degree as a professional nurse registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • Possess a postgraduate qualification in critical care specialty OR a basic nursing qualification with at least 1 year accredited with SANC.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all legislation relevant to health care service.
  • Have a minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in general nursing.
  • Be prepared to work shifts, night duty, and public holidays.
  • Be prepared to rotate according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain current SANC registration.

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Working under the direct supervision of the operational manager in their assigned area.
  • Providing comprehensive nursing care according to the scope of practise for their category.
  • Adhering strictly to the principles of nursing practise and established quality assurance standards.
  • Promoting professionalism and leading by example within the team.
  • Co-ordinating activities effectively with other health team members.
  • Serving as a shift leader for the nursing team and relieving the operational manager as required.
  • Ensuring that all quality assurance standards and other mandates are fully implemented during their shift.
