Are you a dedicated and experienced Occupational Health Nurse looking for a new opportunity? B-SAFE AFRICA is seeking a qualified individual to join our team and contribute to the health and well-being of our employees.
Purpose of the Role
The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) will play a crucial role in promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Promote and maintain the health, safety and wellbeing of employees.
- Prevent and reduce occupational injuries and diseases.
- Conduct health assessments to determine employees’ fitness to perform their duties safely.
- Identify health risks associated with specific jobs, workplaces and exposures.
- Monitor employees who may be exposed to occupational hazards such as noise, dust, chemicals, vibration, heat, ergonomic risks and hazardous substances.
Key Responsibilities
As an OHN, you will be responsible for:
- Manage daily operation of the workplace clinic.
- Conduct medical surveillances on-site and off-sites.
- Manage chronic conditions and workplace wellness programmes.
- Review and close-out reports.
Requirements
To be considered for this vital role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- QUALIFICATION: Diploma/Degree in Nursing + Occupational Health Nursing Certificate.
- REGISTRATION: Current registration with SANC + valid annual practicing certificate.
- EXPERIENCE: 3+ years nursing experience, with 1-2 years experience in mining/occupational health preferred.
- KNOWLEDGE: Mine Health & Safety Act, COIDA, OHS Act, SANS 10083.
- SKILLS: Emergency care, computer literacy [Excel, Clinic systems], good communication, counseling skills.
- OTHER: Valid driver’s license advantageous. Ability to work independently.
